Climber Rescued By Nimitz Patrol

A climber was rescued today after he fell over a waterfall. The climber, an experienced hiker, called on GridTalkie and reported his situation. A nearby Coast Guard helicopter from the USS Nimitz Battle Group responded quickly, lowering a gurney for the injured climber and medevacing him to a nearby clinic.

The pilot, Bob (prospector.garnet), flew into range of the waterfall at great risk and extracted the victim as wind and time would allow. “We practice these kinds of operations all the time,” he told us later.

The climber was treated for broken bones and pride.
