To the amazement of onlookers, several known Waterbank fugitives met in a Mowry cafe for coffee and danishes.
“Oh, yeah, they come in all the time,” dismissed the waiter, a local student. “They tip well and even bus their own table. I guess people don’t notice because they don’t make a big deal about it. It’s not like they come in blasting guns, right?”
The Sheriff Department, still reeling from a public statement by the Mayor calling them “feckless” and “criminally negligent,” refused to take our call. East River Community Police, when asked, said that they have never been forwarded any paperwork. “We’re waiting for a reason to arrest them from WPD or the Sheriff’s Department. Frankly, due diligence is the only fugitive they should catch.”
